Malaysian Recipe : Fried Tung Hoon

This is a one-dish meal.

Serves 4 to 6


  • 120g tunghoon (glass noodles)
  • 120g minced chicken, marinated with 1 tsp soy sauce and 1
  • tsp tapioca flour
  • 120g shelled prawns
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 2 small onions and 2 pips garlic, chopped
  • 2 stalks spring onions, cut into 2 cm lengths
  • 1-2 cups bean sprouts
  • 2 fresh red chilies, cut into strips
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil


  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp sesame oil


  1. Heat oil and fry garlic and onions until fragrant.
  2. Add minced chicken and prawns and fry for 3 minutes.
  3. Add chicken stock and seasoning ingredients.
  4. Bring mixture to boil, then add in tunghoon and stir until mixture beings to dry. Sprinkle with chilies and spring onions and mix well. Serve hot.
