Malaysian Recipe : Noodles Canton

This is a one-dish meal.

Serves 2 to 3

Ingredients:

  • 2 packets instant chicken noodles
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup meat, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup shelled prawns
  • ½ tsp thick soy sauce
  • 2 stalks mustard greens, cut into 5cm lengths
  • 2 tsp cornflour mixed with 2 tsp water
  • 1 egg, beaten lightly
  • 2 fresh red chilies, sliced

Directions:

  1. Cook noodles in boiling water for 2 minutes. Add 1 sachet flavor from instant noodles. Drain and reserve stock.
  2. Lightly brown garlic in hot oil. Add meat and prawns. Add reserved stock, soy sauce and bring to boil. Add mustard leaves and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Stir in cornflour mixture and bring to boil again to thicken gravy. Slowly stir in egg and cook until egg sets.
  4. Pour meat mixture over noodles on serving plate.
  5. Garnish with chilies and serve hot.
