Chinese Recipe - Stir Fried Abalone with Chinese Cabbage

Serves 4 to 6

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp peanut oil
  • 1 inch piece fresh root ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 small leek, white part only, thinly sliced into rings
  • 1 small Chinese cabbage, shredded
  • ¼ tsp MSG (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 ½ tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 lb canned or fresh abalone, drained and sliced

Directions:

  1. Heat the oil in a large, deep frying pan. Add the ginger and leek and stir fry for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the cabbage and stir fry for 4 minutes, or until it is cooked through but still crisp.
  3. Sprinkle over the MSG if you're using it, pepper, soy sauce, and lemon juice and stir in the abalone. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a serving dish and serve at once.
