Chinese Recipe : Bean Curd with Sliced Pork and Chili Pepper Sauce

Ingredients:

  • ½ lb lean fresh pork
  • ½ lb bean curd, cut into 8 cubes
  • 1 clove garlic, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tbsp bean paste
  • 1 tbsp chopped red pepper
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 green peppers, quartered and seeded
  • 1 small bamboo shoot, sliced
  • 4 inches carrot, sliced and parboiled
  • 4 dried mushrooms, soaked in water and halved
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp MSG
  • 9 tbsp oil

Directions:

  1. Boil pork for 30 minutes, let cool, and slice thin.
  2. Heat 3 tbsp oil and fry bean curd piece by piece until light brown in color. Remove to a plate.
  3. Heat 3 more tbsp oil, fry garlic for 1 minute, and remove to a plate.
  4. Mix bean paste, red pepper and soy sauce in a dish.
  5. Heat last 3 tbsp oil and fry green peppers, bamboo shoot, carrot and mushrooms.
  6. Add bean paste mixture, garlic, sugar, pork and MSG, mix well, and continue to fry for 5 minutes. Then add fried bean curd and serve hot.
