Indian Recipe : Chaler Pitha

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup rice
  • ½ cup urad dal (black gram - split)
  • 4 to 5 tbsps sugar
  • Coconuts grated
  • Ghee to sauté

Directions:

  1. Wash and clean rice and dal. Soak in water for some time.
  2. Grind rice and dal to make a semi-thick paste. Pour the paste into a bowl.
  3. Make a thick syrup of sugar till it is sticky.
  4. Sauté coconut in ghee and add to syrup. Keep stirring until mixture leaves the sides.
  5. Spread a little oil over the frying pan. Spread the paste of rice and dal over the frying pan in a circular form (like a pancake)
  6. Slowly lift the pitha and turn it to the other side. Now turn over again and put some coconut filling in the centre of the pitha and fold the sides like an omelet.
