Chinese Recipe : Sesame Seed Biscuits

This is a Western Chinese recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups self-rising flour, sifted
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsps sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsps lard
  • ¼ cup water
  • Oil deep frying

Directions:

  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, sesame seeds, lard and water and knead well to yield a soft dough.
  2. Place on a floured board and roll out to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into ¾ x 2 inch rectangles and make a slit in the centre of each. Bring one end of the rectangle through the slit to form a twist.
  3. Heat the oil to 160°C/325°F. Deep fry the biscuits until golden brown. Drain on absorbent kitchen paper and serve either hot or cold.
